This isn’t about teaching my heart to stop loving her.
It’s about teaching my heart to stop abandoning me.
For far too long, I mistook control for concern, manipulation for misunderstanding, and brief moments of affection for proof that the future I believed in was still possible. I kept chasing the person I thought she could be while ignoring the person her choices repeatedly showed me.
That is what a trauma bond does.
It keeps you loyal to the memory, addicted to the possibility, and convinced that one more conversation, one more sacrifice, or one more chance will finally turn the illusion into something real.
But love was never supposed to cost me my identity.
“Teaching My Heart to Quit” is about breaking that bond. It’s acceptance without excuses. It’s erasing the delusion, silencing the illusion, and grieving a future that existed more in my hope than it ever did in reality.
It’s learning to smile again.
It’s looking in the mirror without seeing the version of myself I was manipulated into believing.
It’s finally understanding that I was worthy of the love I kept begging for, I was just asking the wrong person.
This isn’t me moving forward because none of it mattered.
It’s me moving forward because I finally do.
I’m burying the memory.
I’m letting the illusion die.
And I’m rebuilding myself, one honest, broken, hard-earned piece at a time.
